MedIT Assistants received awards | Friday, 11-02-2007

As part of the second DFG Academy for Excellence in Biomedical Engineering titled "Monitoring and Computing in Perioperative Medicine", two scientific assistants of the Philips Chair for Medical Information Technology received awards for their research projects.

Henning Luepschen, Dipl.-Ing., was able to persuade the jury with the project "Perioperative Monitoring of Ventilation and Perfusion of the Lung Using Electrical Impedance Tomography". Matthias Steffen, Dip.-Ing., was successful with the project "Non-Contact Monitoring of Respiration and Cardiac Activity Using Magnetic Induction".

As part of the two-stage selection process both projects received further funding of EUR 50,000 each. The money is individual-related and at free disposal for their research work.
