"Rehabilitation of paralysis caused by stroke or spinal cord injury (SCI) remains a complex and time-consuming task. In this paper, we propose a hybrid exoskeleton approach that combines a conventional exoskeleton and functional electrical stimulation (FES) as a promising method for rehabilitation. However, hybrid exoskeletons with a closed-loop FES control strategy are functionally difficult to implement and have not been widely used. Therefore, in this study, a body motion capture system is used to investigate the feasibility of a powered lower limb exoskeleton with closed-loop FES control for sitting-to-standing (STS) movements."
