MedIT receives DFG funding for a novel ventilation method

The new DFG-project "Development of a closed-loop device for phrenic nerve stimulation to enable a new approach of intensive care ventilatory support - (DIA-STIM, LE817 39-1) " is concerned with the development of a novel controlled ventilation concept. The concept involves a demand-controlled and automated electrical stimulation of the phrenic nerve and a subsequent controlled contraction of the diaphragm. The idea was developed by PD Dr. med. Thomas Breuer, project partner is the Clinic for Operative Intensive Care and Intermediate Care of the UKA.
